1 Foot Twist-
1 foot twisting forward to backward to forward etc. on a straight line with either FI
                          bracket-like front turns and BO3-like back turns or FO bracket-like front turns and BI3-like
                          back turns

3 Turn Power Step- in a straight line, executed with power *see diagram below

3+3- F or B crosscuts on a figure 8 pattern: 3 times around one circle then 3 times around the other circle.

B Brackets- on a circle. Turn on the back of the blade, hold for at least 2 Mississippi (count 1 Mississippi,
                        2 Mississippi) in and out

B brackets with speed- strong edges held for at least 3 Mississippis (count 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi,
                                            3 Mississippi) before and after

B Edges- Full curves, move free foot, head and arms, good edge control

BI3- F Bracket- focus is on the correct movement back and forth on the blade *see diagram below

Bend, Stretch and Twist- a component of Creative Movement. Skaters explore bending, stretching and
                                                twisting of all body parts and full body.

Body Parts- a component of Creative Movement. Skaters explore the movement of various body parts

Chaine Turns- sequential hops on the toe with a turn rotation each

O-I COE Spirals- forward outside, change to forward inside spirals on large curves. Free leg may pass
                               through to change edges

Competition Stroking- stroking used in competition warm-up

Crosscuts to music: a variety of tempos- adagio, andante, allegro. Skate in time to the music

F and B Catch-  a glide in a spiral-like position with either hand holding the free blade up above hip level

F Brackets with Speed- strong edges held for at least 3 Mississippis (count 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi,
                                             3 Mississippi) before and after

F COE- full curves with good edge control

F Edges- full curves, move free foot, good edge control

F or B 3 Turns- crosscuts into turn, hold indefinitely in and out of the turn

F or B Lunge- boot on the ice, glide and get up on 1 foot 

I Power 3s- in a straight line. FI3, cross behind, cross in front, BI Choctaw, repeat. *see diagram below

Invitational or Club Competition- participation

Level- a component of Creative Movement. Skaters explore movement in high, medium and low space.

Mohawk Power Step- in a straight line, executed with power *see diagram below

Mohawk/3 Turn Patterns (4 in a circular pattern)- 1. Waltz 3s 2. FI3-cross-BI Mohawk 3. BI3-cross-FI
                                                Mohawk 4. BO3-FI Mohawk  All exercises should be executed with speed and
                                                control

Mohawk-Ballet Jump- FI mohawk, ballet jump, repeat in alternating directions

O Choctaw  Stroking- figure 8 pattern with FO and BO choctaws to change circles. Good control and
                                         clean edges should be evident throughout.

O3- Mazurka- FO3, mazurka, repeat in alternating directions

Circular and Straight Pathways- a component of Creative Movement. Skaters explore movement in
                                                             curved and straight pathways both on the ice and in space

Perimeter stroking- straight strokes down the side with crosscuts across the ends

Preliminary Free Skate Test- know and be able to execute the elements included in the Preliminary Free
                                                       Skate test

Preliminary Skills Test- know and be able to execute the elements included in the Preliminary Skills test.

Russian Stroking- in a straight line, executed with power *see the Junior Glossary for more details

Shapes- a component of Creative Movement. Skaters explore a variety of body shapes

Simple Use of Music- skaters should be able to count and 4/4 music and skate in time to the music.

Smooth & Sharp- a component of Creative Movement. Skaters explore movement with smooth force and
                                  sharp force.

Solo- skaters will have their own solo
