All skills excepting jumps and spins should be performed on both feet or in both directions.
1 Foot Spin- with back crosscuts, no pause during the step for the spin, spiralling entry should be evident. Spin should rotate at least 6 times
2 Foot Twist- maintaining focus in one direction, twist both feet back and forth on a straight line, must move forward and backward on the blade through the turn.
3 Turn Power Step- on a line, FO 3, step, step, cross, (BI choctaw), repeat. * see diagram below
B Crosscuts- cross at least below the knee. BI pushing foot must stay on the ice, arms held fairly still on the circle.
B Edges- on a curve at least 1½ metres (1½ yards) in diameter, turn head and change arms.
F or B Lunge- boot on the ice
B Push-Offs- BO and BI from a standstill
B Set-Up- preparation for Waltz jump with back crosscuts and good balance on the BO edge
B Straight Strokes- back skate properly with speed
Barrel Rolls- on a circle, FO mohawk, cross, BI Mohawk, repeat. * see diagram below
BI 3, Cross, FI Mohawk- on a circle, closed 3, open Mohawk *see diagram below
BI Slip Step- step beside, free foot comes back after each step
BO 3 with Speed- on a circle, should glide at least 1 metre (1 yard) in and out
BO 3, FI Mohawk- on a circle, closed 3 *see diagram below
BO or BI Closed 3- on a circle, should glide at least ½ metre (½ yard) in and out
BO or BI Open Mohawk- moving on a circle, glide at least 1 metre (1 yard) in and out.
BO Slip Step- cross in front, free foot slips behind after each step
F 3s with Speed- on a circle with a glide at least 1½ metres (1½ yards) in and out
F Circle Thrusts- on a circle, gliding foot stays on the circle, pushing foot thrusts out and back. Should show good balance and posture, arms held fairly still on the circle.
F Crosscuts- cross at least below the knee with no toe pushing, arms held fairly still on the circle.
F or B Edges on a Circle- with some speed, balance and glide on the edge and maintain the circle for at least 4 Mississippis (count…1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi, 4 Mississippi)
F or B Undercut- deep knee bend should be evident
F Popcans with Straight Strokes- 1½ times around a circle followed by straight strokes down the ice * see diagram below
F Set-Up- preparation for (F) Salchow, Toe Loop, (F) Loop and Flip with forward crosscuts and good balance on the FI edge
Front Spin Exit- BO push-off, take the free leg back immediately and assume the landing/exit position
F Straight Strokes- forward skate properly with speed
FI 3, Cross, BI Mohawk- on a circle, FI closed 3, cross, BI Mohawk, repeat. * see diagram below
FI Closed 3- from a standstill, must balance at least ½ metre (½ yard) after the turn
FI Open Mohawk- moving on a circle, glide at least 1 metre (1 yard) in and out
FI Slip Step- step beside, free foot slips in front after each step

I Power 3s- on a straight line, I3, cross behind, cross in front, BI choctaw, repeat. * see diagram below
Landing Position- balance and glide in landing position with good posture and free leg straight
Loop with I3 Entry- can be from a standstill
Mazurka- all 4: left and right, inside and outside
Mohawk Power Step- on a straight line, FI Mohawk, step, step, cross, (BI choctaw), repeat. * see diagram below
O 3 Turn Pattern- on a circle, FO 3, step, cross, BO 3, step, cross, repeat. *see diagram below
O Choctaw Stroking- forward crosscuts with FO Choctaw to change circles followed by back crosscuts with BO Choctaw to change circles
O Mohawk Pattern- on a circle, FO Mohawk, cross, step, BO Mohawk, cross, step, repeat. * see diagram below
O or I 3 Jump- from a standstill or moving, must take off and land on the toe, should glide at least ½ metre before and after
Russian Stroking- I, step, cross, repeat on the other curve, repeat. *see diagram below
Salchow with Mohawk Entry- can be from a standstill
Salchow: 3 Turn Entry- from a standstill
Tango Stop- feet in a reverse T with the stopping foot in front
Toe Loop- from a standstill, I3 entry
Waltz 3s- FO3, step, BI, repeat. * see diagram below |
